## The checker talks to a DNS resolver, not to us

When you check a domain, your browser asks a public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver for that domain's records: first [Cloudflare's DNS resolver](https://developers.cloudflare.com/1.1.1.1/privacy/public-dns-resolver/) (`cloudflare-dns.com`), and [Google Public DNS](https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/privacy) (`dns.google`) if Cloudflare does not answer. That resolver receives the names being looked up (for example `_dmarc.example.com`) and your IP address, as any DNS lookup does. The requests carry no cookies and no referrer, so the resolver is not told which page sent them. Each resolver's privacy policy, linked above, says what it logs and for how long.

**MailSetupCheck has no server in that path.** The domain you check, the selector you enter and the results are never sent to this site. The DMARC report address you can type is used only to fill in the suggested record, inside your browser; it is not looked up or sent anywhere.

The "share these results" link puts the domain after a `#` in the address. Browsers do not send that part of an address to the website, so opening the link reruns the check in the visitor's browser without telling us.

This site's security policy allows the page to connect only to itself and to those two resolvers, so the checker cannot send data anywhere else. You can confirm all of this in your browser's developer tools.

## The calculator runs on your device

The cold email cost calculator is JavaScript that runs in your browser. The numbers you type are never sent anywhere. Its only network request is for its own price file from this site.

## Cookies

MailSetupCheck sets no cookies and has no accounts, logins, comment forms or newsletter forms.

## Analytics

MailSetupCheck uses [Cloudflare Web Analytics](https://www.cloudflare.com/web-analytics/), which counts page views without cookies, without fingerprinting, and without collecting personal data. It is provided by Cloudflare, which also hosts the site ([Cloudflare's privacy policy](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/)).


## Hosting

The site is static files served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes connection data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse. MailSetupCheck doesn't receive or keep server logs of individual visits.

## Links to other sites

Links to vendors take you to their sites, where their privacy policies apply. If a link is a paid link (labeled "(paid link)"), the vendor or its affiliate network may set a cookie on its own site to attribute the referral.
